Spiral Bolognese

Spiral Bolognese

A Family Favourite.

This is a great Dish to Cook for the whole Family, especially Kids that are growing fast.
If by chance you have any left-over Bolognese, use as a filling in a Toasted Sandwich. Simply delicious and tasty, great for hungry Kids when they get Home from School.

Experiment with different types of Pasta: Spaghetti, Penne, Spiral or Animal shaped Pasta for little Kids. This is a great idea for Grand-parents when cooking a Meal for small Grand-children.

The same applies to Mince: Chicken, Pork or Beef can be used in this Dish.

Spiral Bolognese

  • 500g-600g Pork Mince
  • 2 Carrot, diced small
  • 2 medium Onions, sliced then chopped small
  • 1 cup Frozen Peas and Corn
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 400g Tin Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon fresh Parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh Thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • Parmesan, sliced for topping
  • 250g Gluten Free Spiral Pasta
  • Salt and cracked Peppercorn, for seasoning

Add 1 tablespoon of Oil to a medium heated Pan and brown the Mince well.

Once Mince is browned add the Carrots, Onion, fresh Herbs and Garlic, cook for a few minutes, keep stirring.

Empty the Tin of Tomatoes into the Pan along with the Tomato Paste, Peas and Corn. Season to taste with Salt and cracked Peppercorns.

Stir all ingredients then lower the temperature and simmer slowly for about 15-20 minutes.

Cook the Gluten Free Spiral Pasta in salted water for about 9-10 minutes.

When Pasta is cooked, drain and add to the Mince mixture. Stir Pasta through gently to coat with the sauce.

Reserve 2 tablespoons of cooking Water. Add this Water to the Mince before you stir in the Pasta, the cooking Water will help to thicken the Bolognese.

Serve the Bolognese into Bowls and slice some Parmesan Cheese over the top.

Sprinkle with some fresh Herbs over the top if you wish.
